Ciaran graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design with a BA in Fine Art (Sculpture and Combined Media), MA in Social Practice Art and BSc in Digital Technology and Design from Technological University of Dublin. His practice seeks to combine web-based skills with social projects. Twice awarded travel and training bursaries from the Irish Arts Council. He is a current recipient of an Artists’ Apartment from the Limerick Arts Office. Ciaran recently exhibited in a group show in Multikulturhaus Sonderburg, Denmark in late 2018. During a 3 month trip to Nairobi, Kenya he researched mobile phone-based money transfer, financing, and microfinancing services and the philanthropic and developmental ramifications of these. He is currently investigating the possibilities of alternative economies and currencies through a series of public dialogues and workshops in the run-up to Fiona Wood’s Laboratory of Common Interest, a project to coincide with the centenary of the Limerick Soviet in Ireland in April 2019.
